This site already published four non-overlapping pieces: a closed-source generation-model comparison, an open-source production-tools comparison, a per-clip API cost comparison, plus a Shotcut review. Each has its own angle; this piece does not repeat them.
This piece compares one thing: workspace form factor — how completely a single entry point bundles script, storyboard, assets, generation, editing and post-production, and how open that entry is to agents and self-hosting. The edge is "closed-loop degree from one sentence to final cut" plus "openness" plus "pricing units", not which generates prettier pictures.
Boundary first, a hard rule of this site: every comparison below is a representative comparison based on official pages and source-page claims, not an independent benchmark by this site. This article endorses no vendor. Three sibling pieces pair with this one: Jianying Hub launch, OpenCreator open-source workspace, and Jianying Hub hands-on SOP.
The five contenders: a form-factor snapshot
Representative comparison based on official pages and source-page claims, not an independent benchmark by this site.
| Product | Maker | Form factor | Needs a real timeline editor | Agent level | Openness | Pricing unit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jianying Hub | ByteDance / Jianying | PC one-stop workspace (generation plus edit loop) | Yes, jumps into Jianying multi-track timeline | Yes (Jianying assistant, text calls Skills) | Closed commercial, no public API/MCP | Not published |
| LibTV 1.5 | LiblibAI | Infinite-canvas workflow (human plus agent dual entry) | Yes (canvas preview plus final-cut polish) | Yes (Skill interface for agents) | Closed platform, opened a Skill repo | Annual card, four tiers |
| Jimeng AI | ByteDance / Jianying team | Generation-side full pipeline | Weak, complex timeline jumps to Jianying | Yes (Agent mode plus Octo) | Closed commercial, no open Agent API seen | Free quota plus three monthly tiers |
| OpenCreator | krillinai (ex KrillinAI) | Open workspace plus Skills (local-first, Codex CLI driven) | No Jianying-style multi-track, tool plus Skill orchestration | Yes (agent chat is the main entry) | Apache-2.0 open, Skills/MCP extensible | Free software, bring your own Codex and AI service |
| TapNow | Shenzhen Tianke | Node canvas plus multi-model hub (Tapflow) | Yes (canvas assembles final cut) | Yes (Agent in 2026, second-hand claim) | Closed platform, has open community TapTV | Credit system, four tiers (USD recharge) |
The five are five different answers: Jianying Hub is a closed loop workspace, LibTV a canvas plus Skill platform, Jimeng a generation-side platform, OpenCreator an open agent workspace, TapNow a node canvas. Pick by scenario, not by which replaces which.
Jianying Hub connects generation with editing across nine functions, from image gen and storyboard to multi-model video gen and a direct jump into the Jianying multi-track timeline. LibTV 1.5 calls itself, in vendor words, the "first dual-entry system for humans and agents"; its 1.5 release adds character styling, original screenwriting, director clone, 3D-BOX and final-cut polish. Jimeng AI covers image, video, music, dubbing and digital human, with Agent mode and Octo collaboration (Beta), strong on generation but weak on final cut. OpenCreator is Apache-2.0 and local-first on Codex CLI; its GitHub snapshot (2026-09-22) shows 12,078 stars, 1,222 forks, TypeScript, 31 open issues. TapNow centers on the Tapflow node canvas plus a multi-model hub; its source is a dated 2025-11 snapshot.
Closed-loop, stage by stage: from prompt to final cut
Break "from one sentence to final cut" into six stages: script, storyboard and assets, generation, assembly, polish, batch. For each product, see which stage it covers and where you must leave the product.
Representative comparison based on official pages and source-page claims, not an independent benchmark by this site.
| Stage | Jianying Hub | LibTV 1.5 | Jimeng AI | OpenCreator | TapNow |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Script | Auto storyboard script | Script parse, tune, original writing | Weak, generation assist | Short Video Script tool | Storyboard parse |
| Storyboard and assets | Module wiring plus assets | Canvas nodes, character styling, director clone | Weak | Tool-style, no canvas | Canvas nodes, pose, doodle |
| Generation | Seedance and others | 20+ AI abilities, multi-model | Seedance 2.5 and others, strong | Seedance and others (bring service) | Multi-model (Hailuo/Veo/Wan) |
| Assembly | Preview final cut | Canvas final-cut preview | Weak, complex timeline jumps to Jianying | Landscape/Portrait Render | Canvas assembles final cut |
| Polish | Multi-track plus AI post-edit | Final-cut polish | Weaker, not deep post | Subtitle/dub/translate mainly | AI image enhance (skin plus upscale) |
| Batch | Assistant batch final cut | Director clone batch tune | Agent mode can batch | Agent plus Skills orchestration | Canvas collab plus batch gen |
Jianying Hub has the most complete loop: storyboard to assets, to Seedance multi-model generation, to preview cut, then "more editing" jumps into the Jianying multi-track timeline for local edit, AI extend, upscale, frame interpolation, color, removal and vocal separation, and the assistant batches final cuts by text. It leaves mainly heavy packaging and pro color.
LibTV 1.5 covers every stage on the infinite canvas: script parse and tune, character styling for reusable cards, director clone auto-splits shots and batch-tunes prompts, final-cut polish handles intro motion, subtitle and talking-head rough cut. Its agent side makes a 5-minute short from one sentence, replicates a video by URL, makes an MV from music. It leaves mainly distribution and heavy post after export.
Jimeng AI is strongest at generation — image, video, music, dubbing and digital human in one place; Agent mode plans steps and Octo collaborates on one canvas. Its weak spots are assembly and polish: complex timeline polish jumps back to Jianying, and deep post is not its focus. Jimeng is a generation entry, not a final-cut entry.
OpenCreator assembles its loop from agent chat and local tools: Short Video Script writes the script, Video and Image Generation do generation, Video Translation and Smart Dubbing handle subtitle, dub and translate. It has no Jianying-style multi-track; polish is subtitle, dub and translate. Its strength is local-first and orchestratable on premises; it leaves mainly multi-track fine editing.
TapNow covers the full flow on a node canvas: storyboard parse, doodle to image and video, pose control, AI video generation. Standard and above add canvas collab and TapTV templates. Polish is light, heavy post needs external tools. Its Agent claim is contradictory and flagged second-hand in section four.
Openness: how the entry point opens to agents and self-hosting
The five differ sharply on plugging in your own agent and keeping data on your machine, so this earns its own section.
LibTV 1.5 has the highest openness among closed platforms: it opened a Skill interface for agents and a Skill repo at libtv-labs/libtv-skills; users deploy a personal agent supporting the interface, install the LibTV Skill via GitHub or Clawhub, and command it in natural language. The platform stays closed, but the interface is open.
OpenCreator is the only Apache-2.0 open option. Data, attachments and logs stay local by default; it supports local Codex Skills (SKILL.md) so you add your own workflows, and MCP extension. Model power comes from your local Codex and AI service. For self-hosting it fits best by structure; the cost is you maintain the environment, see section six.
Jianying Hub and Jimeng AI are closed commercial with no public API or MCP seen; the Jianying assistant calls Skills by text inside the product, but this entry is not opened for third-party agents, a clear closed point for teams embedding the workspace into their own pipeline.
TapNow is closed as a platform but has an open community TapTV to share canvas flows, solving reuse of others' workflows, not self-hosting; data and execution stay on the platform. Its agent interface claim is contradictory second-hand, see section four.
Pricing units: why you cannot compare them head to head
Cost is the most disciplined dimension here. Two red lines: currencies are not directly comparable, and credits are not money.
List each unit; do not convert to one currency:
- Jianying Hub: official side published no pricing or quota; follow the actual client interface.
- LibTV 1.5: CNY per year, four tiers. Pro 499 CNY/year (1,800 credits/month, about 7,200 images or 180 videos, 6 concurrent, 50GB); Master 1,299 CNY/year (5,800 credits/month, about 23,200 images or 580 videos, 10 concurrent, 130GB); Flagship 2,999 CNY/year (15,800 credits/month, about 63,200 images or 1,580 videos, 20 concurrent, 200GB); Supreme 6,599 CNY/year (34,000 credits/month, about 136,000 images or 3,400 videos, unlimited concurrent, 500GB, plus 300 Kling credits). Every tier grants 20 credits daily on login.
- Jimeng AI: CNY per month, three tiers plus free. Free gives 60 to 100 credits daily; Basic 79 CNY/month (725 credits/month, about 10 CNY gets 92 credits); Standard 239 CNY/month (2,210 credits/month); Advanced 649 CNY/month (6,160 credits/month, about 10 CNY gets 95 credits).
- OpenCreator: software is free (Apache-2.0) but depends on a local Codex environment and your own AI service, so it is "non-zero cost, depends on the service you connect", not "completely free".
- TapNow: USD recharge into Tapies credits, four tiers. Free grants 200 Tapies first time and 40 weekly, recharge gives 95 Tapies per 1 USD; Standard 1,500 Tapies/month; Pro 6,000 Tapies/month; Flagship 30,000 Tapies/month. Standard and above add canvas collab and TapTV templates.
Why no head-to-head: first, currency and period differ — LibTV CNY/year, Jimeng CNY/month, TapNow USD recharge, Jianying unpublished; forcing "RMB per month" has no official basis. Second, credit rates differ, so credit numbers are not price-comparable: Jimeng about 92 to 95 credits per 10 CNY, TapNow 95 to 115 Tapies per 1 USD, LibTV bundles by year.
Conclusion: cost can only list units and flag rate gaps; no unified ranking. For total cost of ownership, convert at each official site against your real output.
Two more notes: TapNow info is a 2025-11 snapshot and dated; its Agent claim is contradictory — the source page mentions no Agent, while LibTV's third-party table says TapNow "launches Agent in 2026 with batch generation", second-hand with no official original seen; follow the official side.
Scenario picks
Representative comparison based on official pages and source-page claims, not an independent benchmark by this site.
| Scenario | Pick | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| E-commerce product ad | Jianying Hub | From product image to storyboard, video gen, preview cut, then recolor and polish in one chain; ByteDance assets import in one click |
| Talking-head batch | Jianying Hub or OpenCreator | Assistant batches final cuts by text; OpenCreator orchestrates batch script and cut via agent plus Skills, data local |
| Brand film first draft | LibTV 1.5 | Canvas plus character styling plus director clone fit quick storyboard and sample; final-cut polish handles intro and subtitle |
| Self-host / data on premises | OpenCreator | Apache-2.0 open, data logs local by default, MCP, models from local service |
| Reuse others' workflows | TapNow (TapTV) or LibTV (Skill repo) | TapTV shares canvas flows; LibTV Skill repo installs others' Skills |
Addendum: for generation-side full pipeline with asset quality first pick Jimeng AI; for node flexibility on a closed platform pick TapNow's Tapflow canvas. The five are different answers; pick by scenario.
Common weaknesses and closing
All five move toward "fewer jumps out", packing script, storyboard, generation, edit and post into one entry. The cost is twofold: stronger ecosystem lock-in, and less transparent billing — credits, concurrency and quotas follow each vendor's own unit and are not cross-comparable, see section four.
The open route (OpenCreator) solves lock-in and data leaving premises, but you maintain the environment. Canvas tools (LibTV, TapNow) are flexible and reuse others' nodes, but the learning curve is steep; new users must learn node semantics first.
Jimeng and Jianying Hub mark two ends of the closed loop: Jimeng strong at generation, weak at final cut; Jianying Hub strong at loop rhythm but opaque on cost and openness. For users the first question is which stage of my work hurts most and can one entry solve it.
FAQ
Q1: How do these five relate to the generation-model and open-tool comparisons already on the site? A1: They do not overlap. The site has a generation-model comparison, an open-source tools comparison, a per-clip API cost comparison and a Shotcut review. This piece compares only workspace form factor, not generation quality.
Q2: How much does Jianying Hub cost? Can you quote it? A2: The official side published no pricing or quota; follow the actual client interface, and this article runs no cross-vendor ranking.
Q3: Among LibTV, Jimeng and TapNow, whose credits are cheaper? A3: Not directly comparable. LibTV CNY/year, Jimeng CNY/month, TapNow USD recharge into Tapies; currency, period and credit rates differ (Jimeng about 92 to 95 per 10 CNY, TapNow 95 to 115 Tapies per 1 USD). Credit numbers are not price-comparable; list units only.
Q4: For data on premises and self-hosting, which one? A4: Pick OpenCreator. It is Apache-2.0 open, data and logs stay local by default, and it supports MCP and local Codex Skills. The cost is you maintain the Codex environment and model service.
Q5: Does TapNow support agents? A5: The claim is contradictory. The source page mentions no agent; LibTV's third-party table says TapNow "launches Agent in 2026 with batch generation". This is second-hand with no official original seen; follow the official side. Also TapNow's source is a dated 2025-11 snapshot.
